It's been a long time, to long, since we've covered Kinect2Scratch from Stephen Howell.
You've all heard of Scratch?
Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web.
As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.
And you'll remember the times we've highlighted Kinect2Scratch;
Now what if I were to tell you Stephen has created and shared a full, free, course on it? Woot!
Coding for Kinect with Scratch
Would you like to know how to build natural user interface (NUI) programs using Microsoft Kinect and the Scratch programming language? Check out this course, and explore how NUI applications can respond to users' movements and gestures and how the Kinect motion-sensing camera enables you to build cool body-tracking software.
Even if you can't program in an advanced language yet, you can use Scratch, the programming environment (from MIT) for beginners. Learn how to set up your computer to use Scratch and Kinect, and then see how to build NUI applications with ease. Start with tracking a single point, like a user's hand, and end by building motion-sensitive multiplayer games for Kinect using Scratch. Don't miss it!
(NOTE: To follow along with the course, you should have Kinect v1 or Kinect v2, along with Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1, and associated SDKs, plus Scratch.)
